This grade II* Listed windmill was built in 1787 and is the only working, stone towered, multisailed windmill in England. Prior to restoration the mill last worked in 1919. Set in spectacular Derbyshire countryside near the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage site. The mill has much of the original wooden mechanism in place which drives one of the two pairs of millstones. In the basement, the interpretation centre tells the story of Heage Windmill. The adjacent kiln has been restopred as a reception centre with toilets and a shop. Wheelchair access and car park.....
